A couple yearning for intimacy and the chance to start a family discovers unsettling black spots appearing on their skin. Meanwhile, a teenage boy, feeling alienated in a rapidly changing society, plots his revenge against the modern world. A government official works tirelessly to inform the public about this new form of communication. In a future society, a woman rallies against her inability to bear children. These four distinct narratives intertwine, painting a picture of a dystopian reality where the mysterious black spots redefine human interaction.
A play featuring a non-linear and fragmented narrative responds to the widespread use of QR codes during the COVID-19 pandemic, rethinking its impact on human connections and intimacy.
Commissioned by Beyond Dance Theatre as part of the Contemporary Dance Theatre Development Scheme, this work is in the development phase and will eventually be staged, with plans for adaptation into a dance theatre in 2025.
